Snowboard
Please be aware that all customers learn at different rates, which means some learners may need to repeat certain lessons in order to master the specific skills to progress to the next level.
Beginner Level 1
Who is it for? Complete beginners
Aim; To introduce you to the exciting world of snowboarding and become proficient on the ‘toe edge’
What happens? Introduce you to the equipment, and the slope. Go through basic stance and movement exercises to make you feel comfortable with the board. Concentrate on the ‘toe edge’, sliding down both backwards and diagonally
Beginner Level 2
Who is it for? Anyone comfortable using their toe edge to slide diagonally downhill – i.e. Level 1 pass
Aim; To introduce you to the ‘heel edge’
What happens? Review your toe edge skills. Introduction to your ‘heel edge’, sliding down the hill forwards and diagonally
Beginner Level 3
Who is it for? Anyone comfortable on both their heel AND toe edge and able to slide diagonally downhill – i.e. Level 2 pass
Aim; To introduce you to turning the board
What happens? Review heel and toe edge movements. Introduction to ‘foot steering’ and turning the board. Introduction to linked turns on nursery slope
Intermediate Level 1
Who is it for? Anyone that can complete a turn on a snowboard, from heel to toe edge and from toe to heel edge. – i.e. Level 3 pass
Aim; To confidently link turns on our main slope
What happens? Revise heel and toe edge turns on nursery slope. Introduction to main slope and button lift. Practice linked turns on main the slope
Once you pass Intermediate Level 1 you are classed as meeting minimum standards, which means you can use the slopes without supervision from an instructor. However the learning doesn't stop there and we offer Intermidiate Level 2 lessons and advanced coaching to help you progress your skills. See below;
Intermidiate Level 2
Who is it for? Anyone who meets minimum standards that can link turns from the top of our main slope – i.e. completed our Intermediate Level 1 Aim; To improve your skills, build confidence and ability and show you how to link your turns smoothly
What happens? Your qualified instructor will review progress and show you ways of improving your technique. You will work on linking your turns more smoothly, with more accuracy and building confidence along the way. Your instructor will help you correct any mistakes and work on your riding.
Intermediate Level 3
Who is it for? Anyone who can comfortably and smoothly link turns from the top of our main slope -i.e. completed our Intermidiate Level 2 Aim; By now you should be linking your turns smoothly. Our qualified instructors will show you how to change the size of your turn enabling you to go exactly where you want on the slope. Your instructor will show you how to get the most from your snowboarding and take you to the next level! This lesson is ideal for preparing you for more advanced snowboarding techniques such as freestyle and carving.
