About Us

How it works

Skizone is an indoor, revolving, fully adjustable dry slope which offers an economical way to learn to ski and snowboard.

Slope Angle

As the skier or snowboarder uses the slope, the carpet is angled from the back so that there is a natural downward movement. However, this is compensated by the upward movement of the carpet which rotates around two rollers, one at the top and one at the bottom of the slope. The slope angle can be changed by the coach from 9-20 degrees.

Speed of Rotation

The speed of rotation of the carpet can also be adjusted by the coach from 0 – 20 mph – meaning we can make it run at barely walking pace so that nervous skiers can relax and become comfortable with moving at slower speeds. With both the adjustable angle and speed, the slopes can accommodate an absolute beginner to a World Cup skier.

The Support Bar

There is a bar at the bottom of the slope which you can hold onto to begin with as the slope starts up and it’s also a fantastic teaching aid. The bar allows beginners to gain confidence and balance when learning the basics and can be used to help perfect technique as you move up through the levels.

The Mirror

The mirror allows you to see where you’re going, where you and your fellow slope users are at any one time and also encourages you to look ahead rather than down at your feet – which is what you should also do when you’re on real snow too!

The Slope Surface

The slope surface is similar to an astro-turf carpet which offers the most economical way to learn and is suitable for all ages and abilities. There is more friction and resistance than snow and therefore demands more precision with your technique – highlighting any bad habits that have been developed!

Boots: the better the fit, the better the control over the skis. The skis we use are the same as any standard carving ski but due to the resistance the carpet creates, they are not serviced and sharpened in the same way that you would if you were using them on real snow. We ask you not to bring your own equipment but to use ours instead. You are very welcome to bring your own boots and we will fit them to our skis or snowboards when you arrive.

We also own and operate Snozone Milton Keynes and Snozone Castleford which are outstanding venues for skiing and snowboarding indoors on real snow slopes in the UK.

Skizone now holds the Industry Standard which demonstrates we’re following Government and Industry COVID-19 guidelines.  Please check our terms and conditions before making a booking, which outlines all the measures we have put in place.

Snozone were voted the Best Sporting Venue 2017/18 by the School Travel Awards, for excelling in learning outside the classroom for school children.
